It’s that time of year again, when we begin raising funds to conduct Reading Workshop in Guyana. Please consider making a donation and/or sharing this campaign with your network. LEAP (Literacy Educators As Partners) is excited to announce our 3rd Annual Reading Workshop for children in Amelia’s Ward, Linden, Guyana, taking place from July 13-17, 2026. Our team is made up of dedicated education specialists, including several New York City public school teachers who originally hail from Linden, Guyana. Together, we are committed to giving back to our community by fostering a love of reading and supporting literacy development.

Building on the success of our previous workshops, we are expanding our program to include younger learners and introducing more structured educational games. With additional support staff, we’ll be able to create smaller group sizes, ensuring each child receives more individualized attention. Our approach focuses on active engagement with complex texts and ideas, developing higher-order thinking, and using research-based reading and vocabulary strategies. We believe that literacy and critical thinking are essential for the growth and development of communities like Linden.
Your generous support will provide resource materials, snacks and meals, and school supplies for up to 75 participants. It will also help us offer a richer, more supportive learning environment for every child. Let’s partner to increase literacy in areas that need it the most. Together, we can help children in Linden become lifelong learners and confident readers.
